Questions regarding the BS Neuroscience Major

All the major announcements for neuro students is made via our Neuroscience Canvas page.
If you are not in our Canvas section, send me an email (alkisner@american.edu) with your full name and I will add you !
I organize two annual major meetings, one during the Fall and the other in the Spring to clarify major questions about the BS Neuroscience major curriculum and opportunities for research in the Department.
If you need to discuss anything specific about your major/minor, please send me an email. Depending on the question, we might be able to solve it by email. Otherwise, we can arrange to meet either in person or via Zoom. I try to respond to everyone within 48 h after receiving the email!

Interested in joining the lab ?

All students are welcome to reach out about opportunities with our research projects. Just keep in mind that I am not able to accommodate every student who wishes to join my lab.

No specific skills are required. The major requirements I have are:

a) Be able to commit for a minimum of 4 to 6 hours per week.

b) Engage with the literature by reading scientific work about our projects.

c) Be collaborative, our approach is teamwork!

d) Professional behavior – be on time, be communicative, be respectful.

Requesting letter of recommendation

Must have worked actively with me in a research project for at least a year, and/or have taken at least one of my courses and gotten a minimum of an “A-”. If your final grade was lower than A-, we must have a meeting to discuss it further.
